Reasons to think about volunteering

Our charity couldn't run without the 38 dedicated volunteers that last year gave a total of 3434 hours of their time for free.

We always need new volunteers because many volunteers move on to regular employment - which is fantastic and always makes us proud.

Being a volunteer is not just about giving up a few hours of your time to help others. It offers

• opportunities for training
• a chance to learn new skills, which will enhance your CV
• a good way to get into a work routine if you’ve been out of work
• a way of building confidence
• a chance to do something worthwhile and make new friends

You can volunteer at any age. Our volunteers range from teenagers to octogenarians.

We have many different roles to offer. Some are advertised but there are others - such as making tea and coffee, or greeting visitors to the Community Centre.

We always need volunteers at our summer youth activities which are just 5 Tuesdays in the school summer holidays.

We know that taking that first step can be difficult, but you will find a warm welcome here at the Community Centre and we will always try to find a role that will suit you.

If you are interested in volunteering please contact the Community Centre on 353643 or email:

Could you help at the Priorswood Community Centre?

We always need regular volunteers to help with tea and coffee making, looking after reception and helping out at our events.  We also need a few specific roles which are advertised below:

The post is unpaid but offers the individual the opportunity to use minute taking skills to a Board of Trustees and the wider Partnership.

If you feel you could offer your time and would like to find out more please contact Lesley Thomas, Manager, for more information on 01823 353643 or email

If you wou
ld like to know more about summer activity roles or the activities themselves, please talk to Rebecca at the Community Centre on 01823 353643 or email

The North Taunton Partnership is seeking individuals to join its Board of Trustees.

We would like to hear from anyone with a willingness to give a little of their time, experience and commitment.
The North Taunton Partnership is a registered charity which has overall responsibility for the legal structure and safe running of the Priorswood Community Centre; it employs 4 part time members of staff with support from 38 volunteers who undertake various roles within the Community Centre.  There are currently vacancies for Secretary and Treasurer available but you can still become a Trustee without taking one of these roles.

Its objectives are;

To promote charitable purposes for the benefit of the community in North Taunton and in particular the advancement of education, the promotion of health and the relief of poverty, sickness and distress.

The post is unpaid but offers the opportunity to work as part of a professional team to meet the challenges and opportunities within the community of North Taunton. The role will involve attending meetings for approximately 2 hours once a month on a Monday of which 7 will be Executive meetings held at 6pm and 4 open meetings held at 4.30pm. The board is made up of representatives from partner organisations and 2 community representatives.
