CARPET PROJECT

The Priorswood Community Centre was in desperate need of a new carpet.  The  cost was going to be in the region of £2000.  In 2014-2015 we had a footfall of 11,500 people through the door. Between the number of feet, walking sticks, wheels from wheelchairs, push chairs, scooters, shopping trolleys and a few dog paws, not to mention the spilt coffee, the carpet has taken quite a battering over the years.

To raise money we held a hair-raising day on 25th September and raised an amazing £515.06.  Please see below for some pictures of the day.  The hamper raffle raised another £96.00 and the quilt raffle raised £63.00.  Thanks to a funding grant of £750 from the Taunton Aid in Sickness Fund and many generous donations, we exceeded the £2000 target that we had set.

The new flooring was laid during the Christmas 2015 break and we decided to have a heavy duty vinyl instead of carpet as it will be easier to wipe up spilt drinks and is guaranteed for 15 years.  Thank you to everyone who donated, I'm sure you will agree that it looks fantastic.

HAIR-RAISING DAY - FRIDAY 25th SEPTEMBER 2015

All of us at the Priorswood Community Centre would like to thank everyone who helped with our Hair-raising event.

Special thanks must go to John for coming up with the idea in the first place and volunteering to have his head shaved, Dale for having his legs waxed and the wonderful ladies at Nicholas Hair Fashions who did such a brilliant job of transforming Lesley, Tracy and John.  We all had a great deal of fun and we raised an amazing £515.06.
